House Sitting Bay of Plenty

House Sitting Bay of Plenty

New Zealand Bay of Plenty region boats a tropical holiday atmosphere, filled with sunshine and a vast range of beautiful scenery including wonderful beaches, lush, green mountain peaks and a stunning blue-turquoise sea.

The main city in the Bay of Plenty region is Tauranga, known for international trade, culture, fashion, business, horticultural science and entertainment. Being a popular lifestyle city, there are many cafes, vineyards and wineries, and a wide variety of fresh produce such as grapefruit, avocados and kiwifruit.

The port of Tauranga is New Zealand’s largest export port with costal suburbs like Papamoa and Mount Maunganui. Here there are many beautiful beaches, attractions and outlying islands and reefs, which makes it a notable tourism destination.

Rotorua (85 kilometers further south) and Hamilton (105 kilometers further west of Tauranga) are the next larger cities in the area.

Tauranga is separated from the vast ocean by the peninsula around Mount Maunganui and the town of the same name. However, there is only a very narrow waterway between the peninsula and Matakana Island, which provides access to the city of Tauranga and thus also to the port facilities. Due to its favourable location, the peninsula around Mount Maunganui is the “entrance” to the Tauranga waterfront.

The climate in Tauranga is relatively warm and dry. The average annual temperature is 14.2 °C and the
maximum temperature is around 18°C. Tauranga also has a particularly high number of hours of sunshine (between 2,200 and 2,400 hours per year).
