Christchurch is two hours north of Kaikoura, where the mountains and sea meet. The coastal wildlife here is unique; seals roam the rocks just a few meters from shore, Hector’s dolphins frolic in the sea near town, while sperm whales venture into the depths just a few kilometers away.
Downtown Christchurch centers around the Cathedral, which is an excellent example of Gothic Revival architecture. From there you can see the wonderful city from a bird’s eye view. The main shops of the city are located here and you will find a variety of cuisines on offer.
The historic tram meanders through the city center. Numerous parks and award-winning gardens adorn the cityscape and make the city a natural paradise.
