We always had a cat around the house when I was growing up. Visiting friends’ farms north of Wellington I fed chickens and pigs, rode horses, and worked with farm dogs herding sheep.
The strongest memory I have of meeting a dog will always be meeting my great uncle’s Dolly, the gently inquisitive wire hair terrier.
But several years ago I looked after a friend’s shih tzu for a couple of days, then a friend’s dachshund for a week.
In 2022 I started housesitting through a website and made friends with with an elegant playful black greyhound. It was surprising seeing how embarrassed and apologetic she seemed on being unable to find a rabbit in the hedge given a half hour sniffing around.
I enjoy swimming, cycling, and jogging. I don’t smoke and only drink rarely and socially. I prefer to get the heart beating faster and then to chillax reading good books or writing bad poetry, so am usually quiet and focused.
I have a pure electric car which are proven less stressful for beings with sensitive hearing. With the paw-proof back seat cover, flingie stick with rubber ball, and extendable silicon drinking bowl for dogs, we’re set for adventure at the beach, town belt, or hillside doggie park!
I’m also developing my DSLR camera skills, so look forward to taking photos of your furry, fuzzy, or feathered family members enjoying the day.
