My name is Ashley and I am a 32-year-old dual Swedish/Canadian citizen, currently in Canada and about to head over to New Zealand on a one-year Working Holiday Visa. I’m incredibly excited to explore your beautiful country at a slow, deliberate pace and really soak in the local lifestyle.
Professionally, I hold a degree in journalism and work as a freelance documentary researcher. Most recently, I’ve been working as a library assistant in Sweden. Because of my background, I am naturally meticulous, exceptionally organized, quiet, and highly respectful of instructions and rules. Since I’m freelancing and taking some time to travel, I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate entirely to caring for your home and pets.
I do not smoke, I am incredibly tidy, and I will respect your home as if it were my own. I will also have my own car while in New Zealand, meaning I am fully mobile and excited to house sit anywhere across the country.
For me, housesitting is the perfect exchange. I get a comfortable place to stay and a chance to explore your local area, and in return, you get total peace of mind knowing that your home and furry family members are in safe, clean, and reliable hands.
Animals are a big part of my life. I am a lifelong animal lover (and a long-time vegetarian!). I grew up with pets, including cats, bunnies, and even a ferret. While I don’t have a dog of my own right now, it is a big dream of mine for the future, so getting to care for your furry family members is the perfect way for me to get my “animal fix” while traveling.
When I’m not house sitting or researching, you’ll most likely find me outdoors hiking, running, swimming, or curled up inside with a good book. If your pets have high energy and love long walks or exploring nature, I would be more than thrilled to be their active companion! On the flip side, if they just prefer a quiet presence and a good cuddle while I read, I’m perfect for that too.
I understand how important regular communication is, so I am always happy to send photo and video updates of your pets. I have excellent references from family and friends who can gladly attest to my reliability, responsibility, and genuine love for animals.
