I have house-sat for vari0us owners since Easter, 2011, including lifestyle blocks. I have some excellent references and only utilise the space I need in a home. I bring my own food and am adaptable and self-sufficient. The most consistent comment I receive from Homeowners is “Val left our place in excellent condition with very happy pets on our return home.” I have been a home-owner myself for most of my life. I have two adult children, son in CHCH and daughter in Blenheim. I live in my motor home between sits and have recently given up a successful 18 year career in Real Estate. (18 yrs of 12 monthly police checks) I grew up on a dairy farm and have owned a lifestyle block at Tapawera, near Nelson. After 10 years in the Top of the South I moved back to Taranaki for ailing parents. I have had a challenging, interesting and varied career and working life. As a fit, active woman I don’t plan to settle for anything less now. I have a great affinity with animals and always find they are very comfortable with me. I started my working life at 16 in a busy rural vet clinic.
With 5 years of Search and Rescue training/experience, it was an honour to receive a Police Medallion in 2001 during the International Year of the Volunteer. Always great to be recognised for volunteer service of any kind.
My fees are $20 per day for walking/picking up after each dog. This has been a huge decision for me so I am now fully committed to it. AND very excited! I look forward to hearing from you soon,

We chose Val to house sit for us whilst we were away on a six week holiday overseas. Ours is a lifestyle property, that requires caring for our livestock (sheep and deer); and the ability to problem solve when things go wrong (e.g. failing water pumps). Val was not phased by these challenges. She was proactive in learning how things operated, and took the initiative in managing the wellbeing of our animals,
She communicated very well, and went out of her way to meet us and familiarise herself with our home well in advance of our departure. At no time did we have any concerns about her ability to cope and care for our property.
I would not hesitate to recommend Val as a house sitter, and hope to be able to engage her help again in the future.

In July/August, 2023 Val cared for our property and wee Chihuahua for 5 weeks while we were overseas in the USA. She did extremely well to win our little dog over as he is not keen on strangers. Daily medication also had to be administered and he was fit and healthy on our return. The house was clean and tidy with plants alive and thriving. Great care was provided by Val and I would be happy to recommend her to others. Mel
