Description
Our home is an open plan three bedroom split level house with two bathrooms, three toilets and an outside bath with gas heating. It is built on 50 hectares of land. Recently 12,000 trees have been planted on half of it with the Halo scheme here in Otago . We have tracks all around that are great for walking. We are completely off the grid so living here would require a practical person as the system needs daily checks. We would talk you through what needs to be done so don’t worry! We have solar hot water, solar and wind electricity a back up diesel generator and a fire for cold days. We are on a hill by the sea with beautiful views. It is 25 min drive to Dunedin city and 10 min drive to Port Chalmers – a quaint sea port village with shops, a supermarket, chemist, money machine, bars and cafes. There are three local beaches one of which is a popular surfing beach (Whareakiaki, a few minutes drive from our place). The weather here can be extreme and the land is steep, but it is a great place if you love the outdoors. We have a loving but energetic 3 yr old dog Luna, needing people who love dogs and love getting out as she is with us all the time (outdoors alot unless the weather is too bad). However she needs people who really know dogs as she can be a handful (we’re pretty sure she has terrier in her as she loves to hunt!).
It is a beautiful spot, with a friendly community and well worth a visit.
